Nissan has officially extended its support to the Government’s initiatives focused on alternative fuels especially with the recent rollout of E20 petrol across the country. The Japanese carmaker in its latest media release has stated that it is committed to advancing these goals through continuous product innovation and sustainable mobility solutions.
E20 means the fuel comprises 80 percent petrol with 20 percent ethanol blends. Nissan in India is largely a oneproduct brand with Magnite being the only massmarket model in the country. The company also lists the XTrail on its official website but the premium midsize SUV is offered as a fullyimported CBU model in limited quantities.
Nissan Magnite fully E20 compliant
Nissan launched a mild facelift of the Magnite in December last year which came with subtle cosmetic and features updates. Powering the Magnite are two petrol engine options: a 1.0litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0litre turbocharged unit. Nissan says that the former is E20 compliant since February this year whereas the latter became E20 compliant in August last year.

The 1.0litre naturally aspirated petrol unit in Nissan Magnite produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out either by a 5speed manual or a 5speed AMT. On the other hand, the 1.0litre turbocharged power mill kicks out 99 bhp and 160 Nm (152 Nm with AT) of peak torque. This version of the crossover either gets a 5speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
Warranty assured for all Nissan cars
Nissan has confirmed that the use of E20 fuel will not affect the warranty of Magnite units sold after October 2024, as well as any vehicle manufactured by Nissan in India currently under active warranty. In fact, Nissan recently introduced a segment first 10year warranty programme for the Magnite. The company has declared that all units of Magnite new and existing — are capable of running on E20 fuel; with no significant issues observed.
Off late, several vehicle owners across the country have reported drop in performance and fuel efficiency after refilling E20 fuel. Nissan has assured all vehicle owners that any issues potentially arising from the transition to E20 fuel, as mandated by the Government of India, will be thoroughly inspected and addressed during routine service appointments.
