Zia Zulfiqar, brother of Saad, has urged authorities and the public to stop dragging his wife Aroob into the ongoing betting app case. He explained that his wife and mother have already endured immense mental stress due to the case.

In a video message, Zia clarified widespread misinformation on social media, which falsely claimed that Saad faced seven years in prison and a fine of 15 million PKR. He said when he visited Saad in jail, Saad had been crying continuously for two days, asking why the case had become so complicated. Saad insisted the case was not that serious. Saad has now been in custody for three months, including 22 days on physical remand, with the rest of the time spent in jail.

Zia emphasized that the case has affected the entire family, particularly the women, deeply. He noted that many reporters and social media pages have spread mixed information, with a combination of truth and falsehoods, adding to the family’s stress.

He explained that their legal action against the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is not for personal gain. It is intended to help other victims of blackmail. During his jail visit, Zia communicated with Saad through a telephone behind a glass partition. There, he learned that many other prisoners have also been subjected to blackmail.

Zia reflected on the difficulties faced by ordinary prisoners, saying that he, his mother, and Aroob consider themselves fortunate to afford legal fees and travel expenses. Many prisoners, he said, cannot access proper legal support due to financial constraints.

He clarified that the NCCIA as an institution is not corrupt. However, some individuals misused their authority for personal gain. Zia commended the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle for their full cooperation and support, saying they stood firmly with the family throughout the case.

Finally, Zia advised the public that anyone facing blackmail or misuse of authority by government officials should report it to the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle with evidence. He said their intervention can provide real help and restore trust in the system.
