According to a draft guideline released last week, the pilot will run until May 2026 at selected schools, with specific details yet to be announced.

The ministry will then review and evaluate the results before finalizing the framework for wider implementation in future school years.

The AI education framework is organized around four main knowledge areas: human-centered thinking, AI ethics, AI techniques and applications, and AI system design. Content will be tailored to students’ age and cognitive development across two stages: basic education for primary and secondary (6th-9th grades) levels and career orientation (high school).

At the basic level, students will be introduced to AI through visual and audio-based applications, gradually building awareness of personal data protection. Lower secondary students will learn fundamental concepts such as data and algorithms, practice using AI to support learning tasks, and identify potential risks and biases.

In high school, students will learn to design simple AI systems, develop advanced problem-solving skills, and explore career pathways in technology.

The ministry emphasized that incorporating AI will not overload the current curriculum. Schools are encouraged to align AI content with existing learning outcomes, integrating it through themed lessons, project-based learning, or extracurricular clubs.

For teachers, the pilot will explore AI applications in classroom management, lesson planning, and innovative assessment methods.

Resolution 71, issued by the Politburo in August, highlights the need for comprehensive digital transformation, widespread digital literacy, and strong adoption of digital technology and AI in education management at all levels nationwide.

Experts say introducing AI at the primary level is essential but must follow a careful, safe, and age-appropriate roadmap.
