Brits are being urged by the police not to travel as Strorm Chandra continues to wreak havoc across the UK. Devon and Cornwall police are urging people to "not travel" unless absolutely necessary as the storm has left some roads saturated.
Roads have become impassable, say police, as Storm Chandra has bought up to 80mm of rain in some areas. There is widespread disruption of the roads particularly across Exeter, East and Mid Devon this morning.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police added:"We are experiencing an increase in reports of people coming up against flood water. Please do not attempt to drive through it. The weather is improving but rivers are still responding to earlier heavy rainfall.
"Emergency services and partner agencies are working together to respond to incidents and close roads.
"If you know the roads you usually use are likely to flood - please avoid them. Do not attempt to drive through flood water."
The Met Office has also predicted that snow could fall in hours, in its weather forecast for today the weather agency says that there will be "hill snow in the north" with "severe coastal gales in parts of the west".
Chandra is the fifth named storm of the 2025/26 season.
