The Pakistan government has allowed its cricket team to play in the T20 World Cup 2026, but has decided to withdraw from the group stage match against India on February 15. This decision has come at a time when ICC has earlier expelled Bangladesh from the tournament.

The decision came after ICC refused to allow Bangladesh to play in India due to security reasons. In ICC voting, only Pakistan and Bangladesh accepted the proposal to change the venue, while the other 14 countries rejected it.

Team jersey unveiling postponed

Pakistan had also postponed the unveiling of its team jersey for the Men’s T20 World Cup given the uncertainties at the time. The event was planned to be held when a permanent decision would be taken on the team’s participation.

2009 winners Pakistan have been drawn in Group A of the T20 World Cup along with India, Namibia, Netherlands and USA. The team, led by Salman Ali Aga, will begin its campaign against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7.
