Pakistan announced to withdraw from the match against India in T20 World Cup 2026
New Delhi: An important and shocking decision has come to light in international cricket. The Pakistan government has allowed its cricket team to play in the T20 World Cup 2026, but has decided to withdraw from the group stage match against India on February 15. This decision has come at a time when ICC has earlier expelled Bangladesh from the tournament.
Bangladesh dispute and its consequences
The decision came after ICC refused to allow Bangladesh to play in India due to security reasons. In ICC voting, only Pakistan and Bangladesh accepted the proposal to change the venue, while the other 14 countries rejected it.

The Pakistan government issued a statement on its official social media account ‘X’ saying that the Pakistan cricket team will participate in the T20 World Cup 2026. But no clear reason has been given regarding the match against India.
ICC and BCCI status
ICC has not yet given any official response on this matter. According to ICC sources, no formal information has been received from Pakistan. BCCI has also said that they have not been given any information in this regard.
Team jersey unveiling postponed
Pakistan had also postponed the unveiling of its team jersey for the Men’s T20 World Cup given the uncertainties at the time. The event was planned to be held when a permanent decision would be taken on the team’s participation.
2009 winners Pakistan have been drawn in Group A of the T20 World Cup along with India, Namibia, Netherlands and USA. The team, led by Salman Ali Aga, will begin its campaign against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7.
