Rajisha Vijayan is all praise for her ‘Kho Kho’ co-star Mamitha Baiju , who is all set to star in Vijay’s ‘ Jana Nayagan ’. Mamitha Baiju has emerged as one of the most sought-after young actors in South cinema, thanks to the immense success of her film ‘Premalu’, among other films.

Rajisha Vijayan, who has earlier worked with Mamitha, said that she always knew Mamitha Baiju would become a star as she was star material. “When I discussed with several people after Kho Kho, I said that Mamitha would become a star. People had asked me why, as she had done small roles in many films. But I told them she was star material. She would surely become a star,” Rajisha Vijayan told Manorama Online.

“I felt that while working with her in Kho Kho. Her demeanour, the eagerness to learn something, and even her screen presence. And she became one,” Rajisha further added.

The duo worked together in the 2021 Malayalam film ‘Kho Kho’.

Mamitha Baiju’s rise to fame

Mamitha Baiju, who started off her journey doing small roles, shot to fame after appearing in the 2022 film ‘Super Sharanya’, which featured Anaswara Rajan in the lead role. Though Mamitha played a supportive role of Sona, her role, especially her comic timing, grabbed eyeballs. Mamitha Baiju made heads turn with her role in ‘Premalu’. The 2024 Malayalam film featured Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. The rom-com made her a star across Kerala, and even in neighbouring southern states. Mamitha Baiju later starred opposite actor-filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan’s movie ‘Dude’, which also added to her popularity.

Mamitha Baiju is currently awaiting the release of her film ‘Jana Nayagan’. The Tamil film marks Vijay’s swansong before her completely transitions to politics. The film’s release date is yet to be locked, amid the censor row. She also has another Tamil film, ‘ Suriya 46’ starring Suriya, in the pipeline.
