Controversy deepens over India-Pakistan match
New Delhi: The controversy regarding the match between India and Pakistan before the T20 World Cup 2026 is increasing. On the orders of Pakistan Government, Pakistan Cricket Board has decided not to play against India. Meanwhile, claims of strict sanctions imposed on PCB by ICC are spreading rapidly on social media. However, investigation has found that all these claims are false and baseless.
Pakistan’s clear stance
Pakistan has made it clear that it will not play against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, but will participate in all the remaining matches. According to the rules, doing so would cause Pakistan to lose two points of that particular match. At the same time, there has been no official confirmation of any additional action from the ICC yet.
Misleading information on social media
An X user alleged that ICC has imposed a one-year ban on PCB and has also talked about suspending Pakistan Super League (PSL). Apart from this, claims were made to reduce the revenue share and ban the organization of this tournament by 2040. This post was shared millions of times, but there is no reliable source behind it.
ICC’s clarification
The ICC has already clarified that it has not received a formal commitment from the PCB to play and said it expects all teams to play on equal terms in the global tournament. The ICC has advised Pakistan to consider the long-term implications of its decision.
Possibility of back channel negotiation
According to media reports, talks are going on behind the scenes between ICC and PCB. Both sides are trying to find ways to resolve this impasse. It is expected that a concrete and official announcement can be made on this subject in the coming days.
Future of India-Pakistan competition
The scheduled match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on 15 February 2026, which has an economic value of around US$250 million. The stakes are extremely high in this situation. At present, the ICC has merely clarified the issue of points deduction, while the claims of sanctions spreading on social media are completely baseless.
