Netflix’s latest release Ghooskhor Pandat has landed in controversy even before it could fully reach audiences. The teaser and other promotional material for the Neeraj Pandey film were removed from the platform following a backlash on social media and directives from the Centre. Fans of Manoj Bajpayee were left disappointed as anticipation around the movie had been built after its announcement in this years Netflix India releases. Controversy sparks government action against Ghooskhor Pandat The ruling party BJP confirmed that the Centre instructed Netflix to take down all promotional content for the film. According to BJP leaders “Taking swift action in the matter the Centre has asked Netflix to remove the teaser and all other promotional content of the film. Such a kind of thing which is against any society is completely unacceptable.” BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia posted in Hindi on X (formerly Twitter) “We wholeheartedly commend the Centres swift and decisive action! Offensive content such as the derogatory film Ghooskhor Pandat has not only been removed from the platform but an FIR has also been registered in the case. Social media users raised objections to the film’s title calling it offensive which led to the registration of an FIR at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow against the makers. The National Human Rights Commission also issued a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding complaints about the movie promoting negative stereotypes. Fans React to the teaser removal Many fans expressed disappointment after Netflix removed the teaser. One user wrote “It was the only thing I was waiting for this year so sad that it’s gone.” Another commented “Manoj Bajpayee deserves better why should fans miss out on a film we were excited for?” A third fan said “It feels like a big setback the teaser looked amazing and now we have to wait even longer.” About Ghooskhor Pandat Ghooskhor Pandat is a crime thriller directed by Ritesh Shah and produced by Neeraj Pandey. Set over a single night in Delhi the film follows Ajay Dikshit nicknamed “Pandat” a corrupt senior police officer whose plans for a lucrative night go awry when he rescues an injured girl and becomes entangled in a global conspiracy.
