Singapore overtook Indonesia’s Bali to be named the world’s best culture destination as part of Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations.
“The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class,” Tripadvisor wrote.
Singapore offers a unique blend of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian traditions.
The city-state stands out for how easily travelers can experience a rich mix of cultures within a single day.
Visitors can stroll through Chinatown on street-food tours, sample aromatic dishes and spices in Little India, and explore religious landmarks and Peranakan heritage in neighborhoods such as Joo Chiat, offering an abundance of cultural encounters in a compact city.
At the same time, many of the city’s most recognizable attractions, including Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, and the ArtScience Museum, are located within easy walking distance of one another, making sightseeing both convenient and efficient.
Bali which claimed the top spot last year was pushed to the 10th position this year.
The U.K.’s London ranked second, followed by Poland’s Krakow.
The 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations are calculated based on the quality and quantity of reviews, specific to each award subcategory, for accommodations, restaurants, and things to do in destinations from travelers globally on Tripadvisor between Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2025.
The awards highlight travelers’ favorite destinations, helping people plan unforgettable trips and discover the world’s best experiences.
