US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that American and Nigerian forces had carried out a joint operation in Nigeria that resulted in the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he described as the second-in-command of the Islamic State globally.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the mission was conducted under his direction and involved what he called a “meticulously planned and very complex” military operation.
According to the US president, Abu-Bilal al-Minuki had been attempting to hide in Africa before intelligence sources helped track his movements and location.
