Siddapur: A leopard that had strayed from the forest into a village area fell into a well at Hosamane in Jensale village on May 17.
According to officials, the leopard fell into the well after the net tied around it was torn. Family members informed the Forest Department about the incident.
Forest personnel safely rescued the leopard from the well using a cage. Officials said the animal was a four-year-old female leopard. It was later taken to the Shankaranarayana Range Forest Office, where veterinarians conducted a medical check-up before releasing it safely back into the forest area.
Deputy Range Forest Officers Manjunath and Santosh Tatlagi, forest guards Zaheer and Prashanth, staff members and local residents participated in the rescue operation.
