Tottenham Star Micky van de Ven Preparing for London Departure Regardless of Relegation Fate

Micky van de Ven is expected to depart Tottenham Hotspur at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, according to information obtained by FourFourTwo.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently battling for survival in the Premier League, struggling through a demoralising relegation fight.

The North London outfit have not registered a league victory since December and remain the only Premier League side yet to win a game in 2026.

Even after Roberto De Zerbi took charge as the new head coach, Spurs have suffered a loss to Sunderland and managed only a draw against Brighton & Hove Albion. They now sit two points below safety with five matches left in the campaign.

Former head coach Igor Tudor’s tenure was short-lived, ranking among the briefest managerial spells in English top-flight history, encapsulating Tottenham’s turbulent season.

Over the past year, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has witnessed a revolving door of managers. Ange Postecoglou was dismissed following a season that ended with a 17th-place league finish but a Europa League triumph, after which Thomas Frank was brought in as his successor.

Frank, however, lasted only six months before being replaced by Tudor, whose stint was even briefer.

Regardless of whether Tottenham manage to stay up or face relegation, significant changes within the playing squad are anticipated in the upcoming transfer window.

Club captain and Argentina international Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Spain’s La Liga, while his defensive partner Micky van de Ven is also reportedly preparing to move on.

According to FourFourTwo, the Dutch centre-back has already started organising his off-field affairs in London, indicating his intention to leave the club in the near future.

Van de Ven has dismissed rumours suggesting a lack of commitment within the Spurs dressing room, calling them baseless and reaffirming the squad’s determination to help Tottenham retain their Premier League status.

“Recently, we read that someone said a teammate didn’t care because he’s leaving anyway – it’s completely fabricated. Unfortunately, fans tend to believe these stories. It’s frustrating for us players,” Van de Ven remarked in a recent conversation.

However, indications from his personal arrangements point towards an impending exit from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after July.

Van de Ven is represented by Team Raiola, one of the world’s most influential football agencies founded by the late Mino Raiola. As one of their high-profile clients, he has been linked to Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool, though he remains under contract with Spurs until 2029.

With three years remaining on his current deal, Tottenham are expected to demand a substantial transfer fee should they sell Van de Ven in the summer—assuming they maintain their Premier League status.

In the event of relegation, however, his market value is likely to drop significantly, depending largely on Tottenham’s negotiating leverage.

Relegation could also open the door for potential loan deals, allowing interested clubs to sign Van de Ven on a temporary basis while covering his wages, as Spurs look to reduce their financial burden in the Championship.
