With Premier League safety now confirmed, Roberto De Zerbi is wasting no time in setting out his transfer plans for Tottenham Hotspur.

After narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2025/26 Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur are already focusing on building for the next campaign.

It’s fair to say that Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival as manager had an immediate impact, as the Italian guided Spurs to 11 points from his seven matches in charge.

Determined to take the club forward, De Zerbi appears intent on ensuring that the difficulties faced this season are not repeated under his tenure.

Tottenham’s hierarchy has pledged significant investment following the scare of relegation, and De Zerbi is reportedly eager to strengthen the squad by targeting some of his former players from Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to a report by The Telegraph, journalist Miguel Delaney has listed Carlos Baleba, Jan Paul van Hecke, and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen as key transfer targets for Tottenham this summer.

The Brighton trio are believed to be high on De Zerbi’s priority list as he seeks to address the problem areas that troubled Spurs throughout the season.

Although Antonin Kinsky has impressed since De Zerbi’s appointment, the new manager is said to be keen on recruiting a goalkeeper more comfortable with playing out from the back — a style central to his tactical philosophy. Verbruggen is viewed as the ideal candidate for that role.

Spurs are also expected to complete the signing of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi at the end of the season, and De Zerbi is reportedly keen to pair him with van Hecke to solidify the centre of defence.

However, Tottenham’s management understands that signing all three Brighton players will be a major challenge, particularly in the case of Baleba.

Manchester United have been monitoring Baleba for several months and are believed to remain favourites to secure his signature. Brighton are said to value the midfielder at around £100 million.

In addition to the Brighton trio, Tottenham are also likely to sign Andy Robertson on a free transfer following the Scottish defender’s departure from Liverpool.

Manchester City winger Savinho is another long-term target for the North London club. His availability may depend on the incoming manager’s plans at The Etihad, with the Brazilian’s future yet to be decided.

How extensive Tottenham’s summer activity turns out to be remains uncertain, but after a disappointing season, it is clear that significant changes are needed to reshape the squad ahead of the new campaign.
