Delhi Police Mega Drug Destruction: As part of the campaign to make the capital ‘Drug-Free Delhi 2027’, Delhi Police took major action on Monday. Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Crime Branch destroyed 1452 kg of narcotics in the 10th Mega Drug Destruction Programme. Their estimated value in the international market has been estimated at Rs 897 crore. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) H.G.S. participated in the program. Dhaliwal (IPS) was present as the chief guest.

HGS Dhaliwal said – will root out the drug network

Special CP (Crime) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said that this is not just a process of destroying the seized drugs, but an action to dismantle the entire network that is pushing the youth towards drug addiction. He said that Delhi Police is continuously taking action under the ‘Drug Free India’ vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also appealed to the people to participate in the campaign to make Delhi drug free by 2027.

Which drugs were destroyed?

According to Delhi Police, in this campaign

• 1010 kg methamphetamine
• 135 kg heroin
• 62 kg hashish
• 37 kg ganja
• 16 kg methaqualone
• 91 kg poppy husk
• 70 kg phenyl propanone
• More than 1.5 million tramadol tablets
• More than 36 thousand codeine syrup bottles

Other psychotropic substances were destroyed scientifically.

So far 49,663 kg of drugs have been destroyed

Delhi Police said that under the drug destruction campaign started from December 2022, 49,663 kg of drugs have been destroyed so far. Their estimated value in the international market is Rs 14,799 crore. Police say that a continuous campaign is being conducted to break the supply chain of drugs.

Crackdown on drug mafia through Operation Kavach

Delhi Police is continuously taking action against drug smugglers, suppliers and peddlers through several special operations including Operation Kavach. On the instructions of the Police Commissioner, orders have been given to all the districts and special units to take strict action against drugs.

Give information on 1933 helpline, identity will remain confidential

DCP, Anti Narcotics Task Force Gaurav Gupta appealed to the people that if anyone gets any information to drug smuggling or drug trade, then they should inform on MANAS portal or 1933 helpline. The identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential and if eligible, a reward will also be given.

Delhi Police has appealed to the people to cooperate in making the capital drug-free by joining campaigns like “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”, “Together We Can Stop Addiction”, “Mere Sapno ki Delhi, Nasha-mukt Delhi” and “Bharat ka hai Abhiyan, Nasha-mukt ho har insaan”.
