Greenfield airport to be built in Bihar, good news for these 8 districts

News Desk. An important step has been taken towards strengthening air connectivity in the eastern part of Bihar. The proposed Ajgabinath Dham Greenfield Airport project at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district is now moving towards breaking ground. The district administration has prepared the final proposal for land acquisition for the construction of the airport and sent it to the Civil Aviation Department. After getting approval from the department, the process of land acquisition and compensation to farmers will be started.

Airport will be built on 1,356 acres of land

A total of 1,356 acres of land has been identified for the proposed greenfield airport. This land is spread over five villages of Sultanganj area. Of these, most of the land will be taken from Ganganiya and Manjali Mauza, while the land of Kaswa, Hathiauk and Sujapur will also be part of the project.

Compensation to farmers up to four times

The administration has prepared a proposal for compensation of about Rs 529 crore for land acquisition. Since all the land is of agricultural category, it has been evaluated on the basis of new MVR rates. According to the provisions of land acquisition, it is proposed to give compensation up to four times the fixed MVR value to the affected farmers, so that they can get better financial assistance.

These districts will benefit the most

After the construction of Ajgaibinath Dham Greenfield Airport, a big change is expected in the air connectivity of Eastern Bihar. People of Bhagalpur, Munger, Banka, Jamui, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Navgachia and Purnia will get its direct benefits. Apart from this, passengers from nearby districts including Katihar, Kishanganj, Saharsa and Madhepura will also have to depend less on other cities for air travel.
