Manchester United have already brought in two Premier League-proven midfielders this summer, but the club are still being linked with more reinforcements. The Red Devils are trying to make sure Casemiro’s exit this summer does not weaken the side ahead of next season.
The Brazilian was vital for the English club last season and played a major part in their third-place finish in the Premier League, but he has now departed as a free agent. Manuel Ugarte, signed in 2024 as the long-term successor to Casemiro, has found it difficult to make his mark and is currently out with an ACL injury.
INEOS have moved quickly in response, completing the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and also taking Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. United have also recently announced the arrival of highly rated teenage midfielder Cristian Orozco, although he is not expected to go straight into the senior side.
Further additions are still needed, especially with the Red Devils set to compete in the Champions League next season. The Premier League side are focusing on players who know the demands of the English top flight, although they have missed out on a number of their priority targets.
One player who has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Old Trafford and is still available at present is Tyler Adams.
Adams joined Bournemouth from Leeds United in the summer of 2023 after spending one season in the Premier League. Before that, he had impressed during a four-year spell at RB Leipzig, and the American quickly established himself as an important figure at the Vitality Stadium.
His displays for the Cherries have already earned him a place on United’s midfield shortlist this summer. A combative ball-winner who is also comfortable in possession, the 27-year-old has the qualities to protect the defence and press relentlessly, making him an attractive option for the Red Devils.
Last season, Adams scored two goals in 26 appearances in all competitions. An earlier report had indicated that United had cooled their pursuit of the American midfielder. However, a fresh update now suggests otherwise.
According to TEAMtalk, United have renewed their interest in Tyler Adams. The report said: “We understand that Man Utd have made enquiries about the USA international midfielder. Sources have told us that Bournemouth would be willing to sell Adams for £50m.”
Journalist Graeme Bailey also recently told The United Stand that the same is true, while adding that the player would welcome a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
He said: “The player would be keen on a move to Manchester United, though, but my information is that although Adams is not unsellable, that number would probably be closer to the £50million mark rather than in and around the £35m, which has found its way out into the media.”
Although Adams has shown his quality in the Premier League, his recent injury record may give United reason to think carefully. INEOS may instead be better served by investing in a strong alternative such as Manu Kone.
The Peoples Person Reliability Assessment Overall credibility: 6/10 Why?
✅ Reported by a source with a strong Manchester United track record. ✅ Adams is a long-term target. ⚠️ No official bid has yet been reported.
TPP view We believe United’s interest in Adams is genuine, given that they are still in the market for a third midfielder. However, it may still be too soon to say that INEOS will definitely make a move for him.
