In this era of Digital India, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)’s mAadhaar App has become a vital and useful smartphone application for every citizen. It allows you to download your digital Aadhaar card to your smartphone, share it anywhere, and take advantage of features like biometric lock/unlock. For security reasons, it’s mandatory to enter a 4-digit security PIN to open the app. However, people often forget or enter the 4-digit PIN incorrectly, locking the app. If this has happened to you, there’s no need to worry; you can reset your PIN through a simple digital process.

Why is the security PIN so important?

To ensure that users’ personal data is completely secure in the mAadhaar application, UIDAI has created a 4-digit app PIN system. The app prompts you for this password whenever you open the app or use any service. If you enter the wrong PIN three times in a row, the app temporarily blocks your profile for security reasons. In this case, you need to follow the reset process to reactivate the app and create a new PIN.

5 Easy Steps to Set a New PIN on the mAadhaar App

If you’ve forgotten your old security PIN, you can create a new one in just a few minutes by following the simple steps below:

Open the app and click ‘Reset PIN’: First, open the mAadhaar App on your smartphone. Tap the ‘Forgot PIN’ or ‘Reset PIN’ option at the bottom of the login screen.

Enter the requested information: A new page will open, where you’ll need to carefully enter your registered 12-digit Aadhaar number or your 16-digit Virtual ID (VID).

Request an OTP by entering the Captcha code: Enter the security Captcha code displayed on the screen and click the ‘Send OTP’ button.

Verify the One-Time Password (OTP): You will receive a 6-digit OTP from UIDAI on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the designated box and tap the ‘Verify’ button.

Create a new 4-digit PIN: Once your OTP is successfully verified, you will be presented with the ‘Create New 4-Digit PIN’ screen. Enter a new 4-digit security PIN of your choice, confirm it again, and click ‘Submit’.

Pay special attention to these points:

When creating a new PIN, choose one that you will remember but that someone else cannot easily guess. Avoid using consecutive numbers like ‘1234’ or ‘0000’. Additionally, your mobile number must be linked to your Aadhaar to complete this process, as the OTP required for verification is sent to that number. Once the new PIN is set, your profile will be reactivated, and you’ll be able to enjoy all the features of mAadhaar without any hassles.
