Automobile Desk. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), known for its luxury off-roading vehicles, has unveiled its first fully electric SUV – the Range Rover Electric. The company has started its official booking in the Indian market. This vehicle is considered to be very special for the customers who want strong off-road performance in the premium segment and electric driving experience without any noise.
Variants and model options
Indian customers will have many options available to choose this new electric SUV. The company is offering it in both standard and long wheelbase formats.
Standard Wheelbase: Autobiography and First Edition.
Long Wheelbase: SV, SV Ultra and SV Black.
In India, this model will be imported as CBU (Completely Built Car). The starting price of this car, which is manufactured in Britain's Solihull plant, is £ 154,070. Its official prices in India are yet to be announced.

Battery, power and driving range
On the technical front, the vehicle is equipped with a 118.5 kWh usable lithium-ion battery pack consisting of 344 prismatic cells. The car has a modern 800-volt electrical architecture.
This SUV comes with a dual electric motor setup, which together produces 542 HP of maximum power and 850 Nm of peak torque. According to WLTP standards, this SUV can cover a distance of up to 600 kilometers in a single full charge.
Ultra-fast charging support
To reduce the charging time, it has support for DC fast charging up to 350kW.
With a suitable high-speed charger, this battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.
When peak charging capacity is achieved, the vehicle is capable of covering an additional distance of up to 125 miles (about 200 km) in 10 minutes of charging.
Unmatched off-road capabilities and safety features
Despite going electric, the Range Rover has retained its traditional off-roading identity.
Ability to enter water: This SUV can easily cross 89 centimeters (about 35 inches) deep water.
Slope Control: Due to low center of gravity and advanced twin-chamber air suspension, this vehicle can easily climb steep slopes of up to 45 degrees.
Quick Response Traction Control: The new traction system provided in the vehicle adjusts the wheel grip by sensing the road conditions in just 50 milliseconds.
Single-pedal drive: It has the facility to control the speed from the accelerator pedal itself and send the energy back to the battery through regenerative braking.
Strict global testing process
Before preparing the production model, the company has done marathon testing of it. During physical testing, this car has covered a distance which is equivalent to circling the Earth 38 times. Additionally, JLR engineers have spent more than 2.5 lakh hours of virtual testing perfecting its software and hardware for all types of conditions and terrain. After entering the Indian market, it will compete directly with ultra-luxury electric vehicles like Mercedes-Benz G 580 (EQ Technology).
