Toyota’s India portfolio is set for a major change. Several popular models like the Fortuner and the Innova Hycross are set to get updates soon. Here are five new Toyotas lined up for India. These include conventional internal combustion models, hybrids and even electric vehicles.

The Toyota Innova Hycross has been on sale in India for some time, and the company is now preparing a facelift to it. Test mules have already been spotted on Indian roads, suggesting that development is well underway. It is expected to arrive around early 2027.

The overall silhouette is likely to remain similar to that of the outgoing model. However, Toyota could give the updated Hycross a more SUV-inspired appearance, particularly at the front. The styling is expected to take inspiration from the next-generation Hilux. It will get a more upright grille, slimmer LED headlamps, revised LED tail lamps, new wheels, and redesigned bumpers.

The cabin could receive more significant changes. The current Innova Hycross uses a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, but recent test mules appear to feature a wider and more rectangular display. This suggests that Toyota could introduce a larger touchscreen on the facelift.

It could also get an improved 360-degree camera, connected-car technology, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats. There is also a possibility of ventilated second-row seats, although this feature is yet to be confirmed.

Mechanically, major changes are not expected. The facelift should continue with the existing 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre strong-hybrid petrol powertrains.

Toyota is also preparing a more affordable hybrid version of the Hycross. It is expected to target fleet operators who currently rely heavily on the Crysta. A more affordable hybrid could give fleet buyers access to lower running costs while also helping Toyota prepare for tighter future emission requirements.

The Fortuner enjoys stellar acceptance in India. It is set to get a major generational update sometime in the near future. The next-generation model will bring major design changes, more features, a better cabin experience and slight improvements in ride quality.

It is likely to borrow several styling elements from the new Hilux. A new grille section, slimmer LED headlamps, new bumpers, redesigned LED tail lamps are all to be expected. There will be bigger changes inside. The cabin could get a redesigned dashboard, powered front seats, updated centre console, a new steering wheel and larger screens (likely two 12.3-inch units).

Toyota is expected to retain familiar powertrain options. The 2.8-litre diesel engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology and the 2.7-litre petrol engine will both continue on the next-generation model as well. .

Toyota is also expected to launch a three-row electric MPV in the near future. It will be a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki YMC project’s production form. We expect it to make its debut in early 2028.

Like the YMC, this product will also be underpinned by the HEARTECT-e platform and is likely to be offered with two battery packs- 49kWh and 61kWh. The exterior design could be slightly different from the YMC and could have Toyota’s signature styling cues. A similar treatment can be seen in the case of eVitara and e-Bella as well. The electric MPV will have a modern, feature-rich cabin. When launched, it will compete with models like Kia Carens Clavis EV, BYD eMAX 7, Vinfast VF MPV7, and Mahindra XEV 9S.

Maruti Suzuki will launch the facelifted Baleno on September 5, 2026. It will get major design changes, particularly at the front. Spy sightings have indicated that components like headlamps, grille and front bumper will be redesigned heavily. The cabin will get a new design and features like a larger touchscreen infotainment unit. On the powertrain front, the previous K12 four-cylinder petrol engine will be replaced by the Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine. The CNG version will also offer the choice of an AMT automatic transmission.

Soon after this car goes on sale, Toyota could roll out a corresponding facelift on the Glanza. Changes could remain identical between the two, although Toyota could try to make the design lean more towards its styling direction.

The Taisor will likely get a facelift after Maruti Suzuki launches the new Fronx here. In addition to styling changes and more equipment, the new Fronx is also expected to get a new series hybrid powertrain. Toyota’s version of it could also get these changes- including the hybrid powertrain. The launch is expected by early 2027.
