Deadline day has now passed and Manchester United have returned to preparations for their upcoming Premier League meeting with Everton on Sunday.

At Wednesday’s open training session, reporters noted that Amad was absent, with the winger expected to be out for six weeks.

Matthijs de Ligt, who is still recovering after his operation, was also not involved, but there was encouraging news in midfield.

Mason Mount has returned to training, and there is a possibility that the United No.7 could be included in the matchday squad for the fixture at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The academy was represented in the session by Harry Amass and JJ Gabriel.

“Open training at Manchester United this morning. No Amad. Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko part of the group.

“De Ligt not part of the group as being load managed. JJ Gabriel and Harry Amass part of the group,” Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan wrote on X.

The young full-back had been close to leaving on deadline day amid interest from a number of EFL clubs. However, with INEOS unable to bring in a left-back, the 19-year-old ultimately remained at the club.

It had been expected that the London-born youngster would mainly play for the Under-21s, but with Michael Carrick short of options, Harry Amass may now be required.

JJ Gabriel has made a superb start to life with the Under-21s, scoring two goals and supplying two assists in his first two matches.

His quality is obvious, and United supporters are eager to see the 15-year-old earn his first-team debut in the near future.

If not against the Toffees, then both academy products could hopefully make the matchday squad against Sabah in United’s Champions League opener next week.
