Four New Labor Codes: The Modi government at the Center has recently implemented four new labor codes. The government has described it as a big step for the welfare of the workers, but the opposition has accused it of snatching away the rights of the workers on the pretext of the new labor code. Congress and other opposition parties protested on this issue on Wednesday. At the same time, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi has strongly attacked the Center regarding the new labor code.

Let us inform you that the Central Government has announced that four labor codes – Code on Wages, 2019, Industrial Relations Code, 2020, Code on Social Security, 2020 and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 – have come into force from November 21 last month, thereby improving 29 existing labor laws. The government stressed on timely wages, inclusion of women in night shifts and social security for gig workers among the many benefits of the labor code. However, the opposition has expressed concern about many important aspects to this.
