It has been over one and a half decades since movie buffs in Kerala have been eagerly waiting for a movie adaptation of MT Vasudevan Nair ’s celebrated novel ‘ Randamoozham ’. The wait seems to be finally over. MT Vasudevan Nair’s daughter, Aswathy V Nair , recently confirmed that the audience can expect an update by March 2026.

‘ Kantara ’ star to lead ‘Randamoozham’?

Now comes the million-dollar question. Who will star in ‘Randamoozham’. If reports are to be believed, Rishab Shetty will both act and direct the film. Though MT’s daughter hasn’t divulged further details about the adaptation, multiple reports hint that Rishab Shetty could be at the helm of the upcoming film. Will the ‘Kantara’ star be able to do justice to the lead role, Bheeman? Well, that’s a question for the audience to tell, after watching the film.

There has been no official announcement yet, however, talking to News Malayalam TV, Aswathy V Nair, who has been actively working for the movie adaptation, confirmed that the film will go on floors this year. “The movie will be on this year. But I cannot reveal more details about the team as I have signed a non-disclosure agreement. An official announcement would be made by the production house soon,” she said. The title registration is reportedly underway.

MT’s ‘Randamoozham’In ‘Randamoozham’, iconic author MT Vasudevan Nair retells the Mahabharata from the perspective of Bheeman, the second son of the Pandavas. The novel is a treasure trove of emotions, conflicts, betrayals, gripping action, and twists. From veteran Hariharan to VA Shrikumar, the novel’s film adaptation was announced multiple times, but never materialized. MT Vasudevan Nair, also a screenplay writer, has considered the film adaptation a dream project. Initially, Mohanlal was said to play the lead, with Hariharan at the helm. MT passed away in 2024, without seeing his flagship work lighting the big screens.
