Indian student Janhvi Kandula died after being hit by a police car in America in 2023. In that case, the local administration of America will pay 2.90 crore dollars (Tk. 262 crore in Indian currency) to the girl’s family as ‘compensation’. After three years, the city’s attorney general ordered the case to be settled.
Janhvi Kandula went to America to study in 2021. The accident happened on the way to Seattle in 2023. A 23-year-old Indian student died after being crushed by the wheels of US police officer Kevin Dave’s car. Where the car is supposed to be traveling at a speed of 40 km per hour, Kevin drives at a speed of 119 km per hour. Because of this, there was no chance of survival in front of Janhvi. He fell about a hundred feet away. The police department initially tried to downplay the accident. Attempts were made to hide the accused.
Janhvi’s heartbreaking death has created an uproar in India as well as in America. No one could accept the fact that a police officer killed a student by driving recklessly on drugs. The city administration was shocked by the whole incident. The city administration assured to take exemplary measures to avoid such incidents in future. That is why the Attorney General of the city administration on Wednesday ordered a compensation of Rs 262 crore in Indian currency. Although the accused police officer Kevin will be punished? The question arises.
