New Delhi: Vespa has launched a new special-edition scooter called the Officina 8 in India. This model is inspired by the early days of the brand, when the first Vespa prototypes were developed at the Piaggio plant in Pontedera, Italy. The company says the edition is meant to honour the workshop where the idea of Vespa first took shape.

The scooter carries design elements that reflect its historic connection. While it keeps the familiar Vespa shape and styling, the Officina 8 gets a few unique touches to set it apart. It will be available in limited numbers at select Vespa dealerships across the country.

The Vespa Officina 8 is priced at Rs 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and will be available through select Vespa dealerships in India.

The Officina 8 comes with a steel body painted in a matte metallic blue colour called Blue Officina 8. It gets visible metallic rivets and small brass and aluminium details that give it a slightly industrial feel. The seat has a ribbed pattern, which matches the overall theme. At the same time, it keeps the usual Vespa styling, including the round headlamp and the smooth, curved body shap
